CCC announces Tk 2,145 crore budget for FY 2025-26

CHATTOGRAM, June 23, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain today proposed a budget of Tk 2,145.42 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26, providing detailed information on the city's past, present, and future action plans.

Announcing the budget in the presence of elites, officials, and journalists at the Theater Institute Chattogram, Dr. Shahadat also presented a revised budget of Tk 1,221.96 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Highlighting the progress of cleaning activities, the City Mayor said that 4.1 million cubic feet of soil and garbage have already been removed from 19 canals in the city.

Addressing the financial condition of the corporation, the mayor said, "I took office with a debt burden of Tk 600 crore. In the past eight months, we've managed to repay Tk 150 crore. I'm committed to bringing CCC's debt down to zero."

Emphasizing the need to increase revenue through the CCC's own income-generating projects, the mayor said that tax and trade license management have been digitized. Currently, there are 214,673 holdings and 126,834 trade licenses in the CCC area.

The budget is expected to prioritize development projects, debt reduction, improved city services, and administrative transparency as part of his broader reform agenda for Chattogram.

CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Mohammad Touhidul Islam presided over the budget session, while City Corporation Secretary Md. Ashraful Amin moderated the function.

Chief Accounting Officer Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury and other CCC officials were present on the occasion.
