CA greets sportsmen, federations, on national, int'l sports day

DHAKA, April 5, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today extended felicitation and congratulations to sportspersons, local and international federations and other concerned on the occasion of National Sports Day and International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

In a message, on the eve of the day, he said in line with the International Sports Day, it is timely and appropriate to adopt the theme of 'Youth Participation, Improving the Quality of Sports' for this year's Sports Day.

Youth and Sports Ministry will observe the day in a befitting manner.

Yunus said sports and youth make full contributions to the development of the mind and spirit. Through this, a positive attitude, sense of discipline, perseverance, responsibility and duty are created, he said.

The chief adviser said his interim government is committed to promoting the youth of Bangladesh as they are celebrating the 'Youth Festival-2025' across the country to promote the vitality of the population.
 
The festival, organized by combining social, economic and environmental values, has marked the creativity, talent, ability and mindset of the youth, he said.
 
Bangladesh youths are achieving success in international sports as the country is achieving global glory and honor through cricket.
 
"Our women won the title in the Nepal Women's Championship-2024 last year. They have also achieved success in chess. After two decades, Iran and Bangladesh are reclaiming the bronze medal in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship," he said.

Bangladesh is the SAFF U-19 Youth Football Champion and Nepal U-16 Football Champion. Bangladesh has won the Asian U-21 Youth Championship for the first time while Nepal U-20 Championship is being won by Bangladesh youth.

He wished success of all programme of the day.
