Elaborate programmes taken  to observe legal aid day

DHAKA, April 5, 2025 (BSS) – A number of programmes  have been taken to observe the National Legal Aid Day-2025 on April 28 across the country in a befitting manner, with the aim to raise awareness about providing judicial assistance to all. 

Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a circular today in this regard, outlining the necessary arrangements for the day, with a call to stand beside the distressed to conduct their cases smoothly to get fair justice by the courts.

In observance of the day, different programmes, including discussions, rally, legal aid fair, client-lawyers joint meeting, distribution of promotional materials or posters , best panel lawyers' award distribution, publication of supplement, photography exhibition will be organized across the country.

The District Legal Aid Committees, Upazila Legal Aid Committees and special committees at the Union and Chowki Court levels have been tasked with organizing the activities.

National Legal Aid Day was declared in 2013 to provide legal assistance to financially disadvantaged, underprivileged individuals who are unable to access justice due to various socio-economic factors.

The day's aims to raise awareness about government-provided legal aid services and to encourage their expansion. 

This year, as in previous years, various local-level activities will be held with much enthusiasm and due respect to observe National Legal Aid Day-2025.
