DU VC stresses on taking collective efforts to keep environment healthy

DHAKA, April 15, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan today called upon all to come forward to maintain a healthy environment through collective efforts. 

“Keeping the environment healthy is crucial for human civilization. It is a continuous process, which must be done collectively and time to time. We must come forward for fulfilling the works related to environment protection,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor was speaking as the chief guest at the closing session of a workshop titled ‘Green and Clean Campus for Development’ at the University’s Nobab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus. 

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, UNIDO, Norwegian embassy in Dhaka and Pran RFL group jointly organized the workshop.

Expressing his determination of continuing the environment greenery programs, VC said, “This workshop will play an effective role in the struggle for human existence. Dhaka University will always be with such works. Environmental clubs are working on the campus to ensure the continuation of these works.”

DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed presided over the both opening and closing sessions of the workshop while additional secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Fahmida Khanam spoke as the chief guest at the opening session.

In the second session of the workshop, about 400 students from Dhaka University, Dhaka Medical College (DMC) and Bangladesh university of Engineering and Technology (BUET) were imparted training on environment. Later, they were provided certificates.
