Touhid to attend UN Peacekeeping Ministerial in Berlin next month

DHAKA, April 21, 2025 (BSS) - Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain will attend UN Peacekeeping Ministerial in Berlin to be held from May 13 to 14 marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.

This was revealed when visiting UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, met the adviser on Sunday at foreign ministry here, said a press release.

The UN Peacekeeping Ministerial will serve as a high-level political forum to discuss the future of peacekeeping and for Member States to express and demonstrate their political support.

It will also provide a platform for delegations to announce substantial pledges in support of closing capability gaps and adapting peace operations to better respond to existing challenges and new realities.

During the meeting with the UN Under-Secretary, the Foreign Adviser highlighted Bangladesh's exceptional contributions in UN Peacekeeping.

Hossain reaffirmed Bangladesh's unwavering dedication and commitment to support UN Peacekeeping, strengthen global partnerships and uphold peace, security and development worldwide.

Under-Secretary-General Lacroix commended Bangladesh's outstanding and multifaceted role in peacekeeping, acknowledging its longstanding and dynamic participation in various UN peace operations.
