DHAKA, Oct 4, 2025 (BSS) - Shakhir Hossin overcame a sensational bowling spell
of left-arm spinner Abu Hasim to guide Rajshahi Division to a four-wicket win
over defending champions Rangpur in a low-scoring affair in NCL T20 today at
Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Put into bat first, Rangpur were bundled out for just 143 in 19.3 overs
despite a valiant effort of Iqbal Hosen who made 50 off 45 with three fours
and one six.
But Hasim denied Rajshahi to make the chase a cake-walk.
The left-spinner spun the game toward Rangpur with regular strike, finishing
with an envious figure of 4-1-7-4, a performance that left Rajshahi to 29-5
in sixth over.
Resistance first came from Shakhir Hossain and Sabbir Rahman who helped
Rajshahi regroup in exceptional fashion. They shared 74-run for the sixth
wicket but Alauddin Babu broke the partnership by removing Sabbir who made
run-a-ball-35.
Sabbir's dismissal gave Rangpur a ray of hope before Nihaduzzaman joined
Shakhir to dent Rangpur's hope.
Shakhir was unbeaten on 52 off 42 after hitting two fours and three sixes
while Nihad was not out on 14 ball-27, smashing two fours and as many sixes.
