SC suspends bench assistant for corruption

DHAKA, April 21, 2025 (BSS) - The Supreme Court (SC) today suspended Mohammad Nazrul Islam, a bench assistant of Rajshahi Senior Judicial Magistrate court for his involvement in the corruption, a press release of the SC said.

The action has been taken based on a online media report on his bribery and irregularities, the release said.

"In light of the 12-point directives announced by the Chief Justice to prevent corruption, the Supreme Court ordered the temporary suspension of Bench Assistant Mohammad Nazrul Islam," the press release said.

The High Court Division also asked the Rajshahi District Judge to submit a report after investigating the allegation within 30 days.

Action has already been taken against the accused bench assistant Mohammad Nazrul Islam under the ACC Act.
