DOHA (Qatar), April 22, 2025 (BSS) - Four Bangladeshi female athletes today attended the welcome reception with Qatar Foundation leadership at Mandarin Oriental Hotel here ahead of Earthana Summit.

In a historic first, the four national female athletes are accompanying Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus during his visit to Qatar.
 
The athletes are: footballers Afida Khandaker and Shaheda Akhter Ripa and cricketers Sumaiya Akhter and Sharmin Sultana.

Qatar Foundation invited these female athletes to accompany the Chief Adviser to Qatar.

Prof Yunus is now on a four-day visit to Qatar to attend the "Eartana Summit".

Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Md. Nazrul Islam received Prof Yunus upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport around 21:40 pm on Monday (Doha time) by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder told BSS.

Earlier, he departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:00pm (Dhaka time) on Monday.
