DHAKA, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court here today imposed a travel ban on former managing director (MD) of Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited (BMTF) Major Gen (Retd) Sultanuzzaman Md Saleh Uddin and his wife Jewela Nilufar over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the orders, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Along with the travel restrictions, the court also directed authorities to block the couple's National Identity Cards (NIDs).

The anti-graft body in its plea said it is probing corruption allegations against Sultanuzzaman and his wife. It has found evidences of amassing illegal wealth and keeping those under their possessions.

The commission expressed concern that the couple might attempt to flee the country to evade prosecution after handing over the properties.

"If they manage to escape the country, it would hamper the investigation. So, travel ban should be imposed on them," the ACC plea said.
