DU to honor 300 researchers at 'Research Excellence Recognition 2025'

DHAKA, April 30, 2025 (BSS) -- Dhaka University (DU) is set to organize 'Research Excellence Recognition 2025' ceremony on May 2, to encourage research and innovation activities within the university, foster excellence in research, and inspire its researchers.

The programme will begin at 4:30pm at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. 

The program will feature two sessions. The first session, titled 'The Importance of Investing in Higher Education' will be presided over by Pro-VC (Education) Prof Dr Mamun Ahmed. President of Bangla Academy Prof Abul Kashem Fazlul Haq will attend as the chief guest. 

Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha will deliver a keynote speech on the importance of investing in higher education. Representatives from industry and alumni will highlight the role of higher education and the importance of investing in it for sustainable growth and development. 

The second session titled 'DU Research Excellence Recognition 2025,' will recognize around 300 honourable teachers and researchers from various departments and institutes of the university for their research and intellectual contributions. 

DU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad Khan will chair the second session, while Advisor to the Ministry of Planning Prof Wahiduddin Mahmud will address the session as the Chief Guest, and Advisor to the Ministry of Education Prof Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar will attend as the honorable guest.

Researchers from the university, whose research papers were published in high-impact journals between January and December 2024, will be honored in the programme. 

This initiative also aims to establish stronger connections between policymakers and researchers and to showcase Dhaka University's research activities at both national and international levels.
