Legal Aid organization so far realized over Tk 6.63 cr for labourers

DHAKA, May 1, 2025 (BSS) - The National Legal Aid Services Organization so far realized Taka 6,63,26,215 for the labourers as compensation, a report published in the organization's website said here today.

The organization has published its detailed legal aid services reports from 2009 to February 2025 in the website. 

The services first started for the poor justice seekers at the district level but later it was introduced in the Supreme Court. Besides, a Supreme Court toll free number ‘16430’ was introduced to provide legal aid services to the laborers in Dhaka and Chattogram. The services were later introduced in other prisons of the country.

Dr Md Rezaul Karim, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Law Ministry told BSS that the organization introduced two cells for delivering services to the labourers from 2013. The cells in Dhaka and Chattogram have provided 21,426 legal advices till March this year, he said, adding that the organization has provided legal services to 4421 cases, of which 804 cases have already been resolved.

The organization took up 3300 cases for alternative dispute resolutions of which 1913 cases have been resolved by this time.  A total of 29,147 labourers have received legal aid services from the cell in Dhaka and Chattogram. 

The National Legal Aid Services Organization under the guidance of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry has been providing legal services to the poor and marginally poor justice seekers of the country free of cost.
