Former IGP Mudabbir Hossain Chowdhury dies

DHAKA, May 1, 2025 (BSS) - Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mudabbir Hossain Chowdhury passed away due to old-age complications at his residence in the city at early morning today.
 
He was 78.
 
He left behind his wife, two sons, one  daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
 
His namaz-e-janaza was held today at the SI Shiru Mia Auditorium at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the city.
 
 IGP Baharul Alam, senior police officers and members and relatives of Mudabbir Hossain participated in the namaz.
 
After the namaz-e-janaza, the IGP paid tribute to Mudabbir Hossain by placing flowers on the coffin.
 
Later, leaders of the Bangladesh Police Service Association and the Bangladesh Retired Police Officers Welfare Association paid tribute to  Mudabbir Hossain by placing flowers.
 
Mudabbir Hossain was the DIG of Rajshahi Range and the Police Commissioner of Sylhet. He served as the IGP in 2002 and retired from the service in 2005.
 
He was born in Shibpasha village under Ajmiriganj police station in Habiganj district.
