DHAHA, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today said they have taken necessary measures to ensure security and better traffic management for peaceful celebrations of Buddha Purnima to be celebrated on May 11.

"All necessary preparations regarding security and traffic management have been completed for the upcoming Buddha Purnima celebrations," said the DMP Commissioner while presiding over a coordination meeting at the DMP headquarters.

The DMP chief said that DMP's traffic division has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow near Buddhist monasteries during the event.

Numerous CCTVs and archways have been installed at the Buddha Purnima venues to make the security foolproof, he said.

Representatives of various Buddhist monasteries in Dhaka city, Buddhist religious leaders, intelligence agencies, specialized units of the police, Dhaka South and North City Corporations, Fire Service and Civil Defence, DPDC, WASA, Public Works and various government and private service providers were present at the meeting.

The session began with a power point presentation on the overall security plan, delivered by DMP Joint Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah.
