DINAJPUR, May 8, 2025 (BSS) – Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said legal measures will be rigorously upheld, ensuring that no individual, regardless of their influence or status, can evade consequences for criminal activities.

“Regardless of how powerful the criminals may be, the law will be enforced against them if they commit a crime,” he said, adding that the government is actively working to ensure that the law applies equally to all individuals.

The adviser made this affirmation while talking to media after a special law and order meeting at the Dinajpur District Commissioner's office in the afternoon.

He continued that regardless of who the criminal is, legal action is being pursued under the country's existing laws, leaving no room for exemptions.

Jahangir Alam asserted that the nation's law and order situation has significantly improved compared to the past, with security forces actively working to safeguard people's lives and property.

Addressing journalists' inquiries, he clarified that there is no room for brokers at police stations and instructed the law enforcers to take legal action against individuals engaging in such activities.

The adviser said any victim has the right to file a case with the police station. However, arrests will only be made if the investigation confirms the crime, ensuring that no innocent person is wrongfully detained or harassed, he added.

He urged the police to handle such matters with utmost seriousness.

Jahangir Alam said the border guards have been stationed in the country's frontier areas under stringent security measures, with the government maintaining strict vigilance to prevent any criminal activities.

“There is no room for spreading propaganda on this matter,” he added.

Speaking to journalists, he emphasized the importance of publishing accurate news for the nation's welfare. He urged them to avoid spreading misinformation that could provide opportunities for anyone to engage in propaganda.

With Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam in the chair, Rangpur Range Police DIG Md. Aminul Islam, Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam, Police Superintendent Md. Marfat Hossain, police superintendents of other districts of Rangpur Division, and battalion commanders of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and law and order-related representatives were present at the meeting.
