DHAKA, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - Haji Yakub, owner of a factory, today gave Taka 10 lakhs to his employee Naim Hasan Nahid, who lost his hand while working, following a directive by the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC).

A bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed today upheld a high court verdict on the issue and fixed the next date for hearing on the matter on May 13 next.

The High Court on January 12 gave a verdict to fix Taka 15,00,000 for Naim Hassan Nahid and pay Taka 7000 per month for his education expenses up to SSC by his factory owner .

Following the direction of the Appellate Division, factory owner Yakub Ali paid a pay order of Taka 10 lakh to 13-year-old Naim in the court today.

Barrister Omar Faruque moved the infant’s case before the court while lawyer of the factory owner Barrister Ruhul Kajol handed over the pay order to Naim taking it from Yakub Ali.

Barrister Omar Faruque told the journalists that hopefully Naim will get the remaining amount of Taka 20 lakh on the next date of the hearing on May 13.

The Appellate Division on February 10 summoned the factory owner Yakub Ali as he failed to pay Taka 30 lakh to Naim as compensation despite the High Court decision. The appellate division bench headed by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam after hearing a court defamation petition passed the order on that day.

Naim, an employee of Nur Engineering Workshop at Bhairab upazila in Kishoreganj district, lost his hand on September 28 in 2020 while he was working there.
