Mild to moderate heat wave sweeps over parts of country

DHAKA, May 9, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said that mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over different parts of the country.

"Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the districts of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Rajarhat, Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Feni, Noakhali, Chattogram, Bandarban, Barishal and Patuakhali and it may continue," said a BMD bulletin issued this morning valid for next 120 hrs commencing from 9am.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, the release added.

Day temperature may rise by (1-2) øC and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
 
The highest temperature recorded on Thursday was 39.7 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga in Khulna division. The lowest temperature recorded today was 22.5 degrees Celsius at Dimla in Rangpur division.

In Dhaka, the sun will set at 6:31pm today and rise at 5:19am tomorrow.
