BRUR to formulate academic master plan for quality education

RANGPUR, May 11, 2025 (BSS) - Academic experts today held a meeting at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), with the aim of formulating an academic master plan to ensure quality higher education and develop the university as a center of excellence.

Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali chaired the meeting at the Syndicate Room of the university's administrative building. 

Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, its Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Professor Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed, Professor of the Department of Marketing Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam and Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Dr. Saifuddin Md. Tariq exchanged views with teachers of six faculties and 22 departments of Barur as experts. 

The experts said that a far-reaching and up-to-date master plan is needed to develop Begum Rokeya University as a complete university. It will be easy to ensure quality higher education through the formulation of an academic master plan. 

The BRUR Vice-chancellor said that a proper master plan is needed to bring Begum Rokeya University to single digits in the national rankings in the future. The academic master plan will depend on the infrastructural engineering master plan. 

"If all facilities for students are ensured according to the academic and engineering master plans, it will be possible to develop BRUR as a center of excellence," he said.

The experts also exchanged views with the students of different departments of the university. The students highlighted their various academic needs on the campus. 

On Saturday night, the Vice-chancellor with the experts visited the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed in Babanpur village under Pirganj upazila.

They also inquired about the family members of Shaheed Abu Sayeed and talked to them.
