Efforts on to ensure safe celebrations of Eid : Jahangir

DHAKA, May 12, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today said they have taken several decisions to check extortions, snatching and other criminal acts to ensure safe celebration of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha across the country.
 
The decisions include deployment of 100 Ansar personnel at every cattle market to stop snatching, pick pocketing and activities of the dope gang members in the markets, intensify intelligence surveillance and patrol on the highways to stop extortion and ensure hassle free journey of the home-goers ahead of the Eid.
  
The Home Adviser made the disclosure after emerging from the 9th meeting of the advisory council on law and order at the ministry's conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat.
 
“We have asked the authorities concerned to deploy 100 Ansar personnel at each   cattle market to put an end to the extortion, mugging and activities of the members of the dope party,” he said.
  
The Home Adviser said they have asked the highway police to stop extortion from the vehicles of the sacrificial animals and make sure hassle and traffic jam free journey of the home-goers and cattle traders.
 
“In no way, any extortion will be tolerated,” he warned calling upon the newsman to play an effective role to inform the Home Ministry in advance about any kind of extortions.
 
He also said the government will not allow any animal from outside   to enter into the country as Bangladesh has a huge production of sacrificial animals this year.   
    
Replying to a query, the Home Adviser said the recovery of arms seizure is not satisfactory.
