DHAKA, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - Health Reform Commission has suggested forming an independent public service commission dedicated to the health sector, aiming to ensure greater transparency in recruitment and promotions within key positions.

The commission made the recommendation in its report submitted to Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on May 5.

It recommended that the new body be empowered to oversee appointments and promotions for first-class, second-class and other significant posts in the health sector.

The commission also suggested forming a high-level search committee tasked with selecting candidates and making appointment recommendations for top positions such as vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor and treasurer of medical universities, as well as director generals and principals of medical colleges.

In November last year, a 12-member health reform commission was formed headed by Prof Dr AK Azad Khan, president of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh.
