DU student Shammo laid to rest in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, May 15, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) student Shahriar Alam Shammo, who was stabbed to death on Tuesday night, was laid to rest at his native village Saratail under Belkuchi Upazila in the district last night.

Prior to the burial, his namaz-e-janaza was held at the Hafiziya Madrasa ground adjacent to the local Jannatul Baki graveyard.

Dhaka University Chhatra Dal president Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahos, general secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, Sirajganj District BNP general secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu, organizing secretary Mirza Mustafa Zaman, District Chhatra Dal president Junaid Hossain Sabuj, and general secretary Serajul Islam Seraj, along with family members and people from all walks of life, attended the janaza.

Shahriar Alam Shammo, 25, was a student of the Institute of Education and Research (2018–19 session) at DU and served as the publications secretary of the Sir A.F. Rahman Hall unit of Chhatra Dal. He was stabbed to death in the Suhrawardy Udyan area adjacent to the campus late Tuesday night.
