Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thunder showers likely to occur at different places across the country for the next 24 hours, beginning from this morning.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions", said the forecast.

Trough of low lies over West Bengal to North Bay across the Southwestern part of Bangladesh.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

A mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the district of Bandarban and it may abate.

Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 36.8 degrees celsius at Jashore and minimum temperature today was recorded 21.0 degrees celsius at Sylhet.

The highest rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 121 millimeters (mm) at Rangamati.

Today's sunset is at 06-35 PM and Tomorrow's sunrise 05-15 AM in the capital.
