DoE conducts anti-pollution drives

DHAKA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - Under the initiative of the Ministry of 
Environment, Forest and Climate Change, mobile courts of the Department of 
Environment (DoE) today conducted drives against three entities polluting 
environment.

Two mobile courts conducted drives in the Kadamtali and Savar areas targeting 
air pollution caused by coal production through wood burning and tire 
pyrolysis.

Under the Air Pollution (Control) Rules, 2022, a total of three cases were 
filed, resulting in fines amounting to Taka 18,000 and the power connection 
of one establishment was disconnected, a ministry press release said. 

Meanwhile, two other mobile courts conducted drives in Naogaon and Khilgaon 
under the Noise Pollution (Control) Rules, 2006. 

Four cases were filed and Taka 8,000 was realised from the polluters.

Additionally, five hydraulic horns were seized.

Another mobile court conducted an operation in Dhanmondi against vehicles 
emitting excessive black smoke.

During the drive, five cases were filed and Taka 10,500 was realised.

The DoE will continue such drives regularly in the future, the release added.
