One gets life-term jail in C'nawabganj murder case

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to
life-term imprisonment in a murder case five years ago.

District and Sessions Judge Md. Mizanur Rahman announced the verdict in
presence of the convict, said Abdul Oadud, public prosecutor (PP) of the
court.

The convicted man is Nur Amin, 30, a resident of Rajarampur Mistripara area
in Sadar upazila.

The court also fined him Taka 5,000, in default, to suffer six months more in
jail.

The prosecution story, in brief, was that convict Nur Amin locked into an
altercation with Ramzan Ali over a trifle matter on February 27, 2020. At one
stage of their altercation, Amin hit Ramzan with a heavy stick.

Later, Ramzan was taken to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital. After seeing his
condition deteriorate, he was sent to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital
(RMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries.

After his demise, Sumaiya Khatun, wife of Ramzan, filed a murder case with
Sadar Police Station accusing Nur Amin.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sadar Police Station Md. Nazmul Haque submitted a
charge-sheet against the accused to the court after investigating the case.

The judge after examining witnesses and evidence found the convict guilty and
handed down the punishment.
