JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) today demanded swift action against those involved in the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a leader of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal.

Around a hundred JCD leaders and activists took part in the demonstration held at the central Shaheed Minar of the university this afternoon.

Addressing the event, JU JCD Convener Jahir Uddin Mohammad Babor expressed his concern over the safety of students on the campus. “Five days have passed, the prime accused of Shammo murder are yet to be arrested. When will the administration be able to arrest him? The prime accused have to be arrested within a short time.”

He demanded the safety and security of university campuses across the country.

Issuing a warning of tougher movement, JU JCD Member Secretary Wasim Ahmed Anik said, “The Dhaka University administration could not conduct a proper probe into Shammo murder till now. If the government and university administration fail to take appropriate measures, then we go for a tougher movement.”
