DHAKA, June 12, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Prof Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain has said that the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will return home soon.

"The Acting Chairman of the BNP will be back in the country shortly," Dr. Zahid told an event at RS Cafe Restaurant in Maona Chowrasta this afternoon.

During the event, financial assistance was distributed to 12 families of those killed and injured in the July-August movement in Sripur.

Financial aid amounting to Taka 50,000 was given to the families of six martyrs and Taka 25,000 to the families of six injured July fighters.

Referring to Tarique Rahman's recent meeting in London with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Dr. Zahid said, this meeting will help resolve the uncertainty and confusion surrounding democracy and elections in Bangladesh.

"It will open the way for justice against perpetrators, necessary reforms, prompt elections and the repatriation of laundered money for national reconstruction."

Assuring the July victim families, he said, "BNP and the Zia family have always stood by, and will continue to stand by, the families of those who were injured or martyred during the July-August movement. The BNP belongs to the people; it prioritizes the country and its citizens above all".

BNP's Central Executive Committee member and Assistant Health Affairs Secretary Professor Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu presided over the program.

Later, he attended a reception and Eid reunion program organized by the 1975 batch at Kawrhaid KN High School, where he delivered speech as the chief guest.
