MEHERPUR, June 17, 2025 (BSS) - A minor boy drowned in a pond at Jorpukuria 
village under Gangni upazila of Meherpur district this afternoon.

The deceased was Fahim Hossain, 8, a second-grade student of a local 
kindergarten school and son of Zahid Hossain, a resident of Jorpukuria 
village.

Some children were playing football in a field near the pond around 3 pm and 
Fahim inadvertently fell into the water body and drowned. 

Locals rescued him and took to the Gangni Upazila Health Complex where on-
duty doctors declared him dead. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gangni Police Station Bani Israel confirmed the 
incident.
