CHATTOGRAM, June 28, 2025 (BSS) - Planning Adviser Wahid Uddin Mahmud here today said that their sole objective is to hold a free and fair national election.
 
"We are implementing necessary reforms to ensure direct participation of the people and conducting elections acceptable both locally and internationally. That's why we are unable to take any large scale mega projects," he added.
 
He mentioned that they are approving projects that can be swiftly implemented and focusing on initiating crucial projects for the country. 
 
He told a view-sharing meeting at the local circuit house with government service providers, development plan implementing agencies and administrative officials of Chattogram division on Saturday.
 
 Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Sharmin Jahan presided over the function with City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and other senior officials from various service-providing departments present on the occasion.
 
Officials from the City Corporation, CDA, WASA, Water Development Board, LGED, Roads and Highways Department, Public Works Department, Power Development Board, among others, organizations presented the progress of their ongoing projects. 
 
The adviser highlighted problems such as water logging, sewage system crises, canal and drain blockade, cleanliness, hill cutting, landslides and unplanned urbanization.
 
Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain mentioned his coordination with the service organizations.
