Contribution of Imams immense for flourishing moral, ideological values: Adviser

DHAKA, June 29, 2025 (BSS) - Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain today stressed on reorganizing the ‘Imams’ for taking forward the changing trend of society towards moral and ideological values.  

“Contribution of Imams is enormous for flourishing moral and ideological values of people as they (Imams) are considered as honourable persons in society,” he said.

The adviser was addressing the National Hifzul Quran and Sirat competition and National conference of the Imam-‘25 as the chief guest at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here.

He said after the establishment of ‘Imam-Muazzin Welfare Trust’ in 2001, Taka 37 crore 92 lakh 73,000 have been distributed as interest free micro-credit among 63,197 ‘Imam and Muazzins’ till 2025.

The religious affairs adviser said now it is high time in resisting the misinterpretation of the Islam and upholding the proper explanation and establishing peace, harmony and endurance in society.

“We want a peaceful Bangladesh where mosque would be the hub of knowledge and Imam to be the pioneer of the leadership,” he added.
The adviser said it is a matter of pride for the whole nation as every year our competitors are achieving tremendous success in international ‘Hifz and Kirat’ competition.

The success proves that the light of the Quran is enlighten in our children and now the management of the light is needed and that’s why training, encouragement and participation of the imams are crucial for that jobs, he added.

Religious Affairs Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain spoke at the function as the special guest with Islamic Foundation Director General A Salam Khan in the chair.
