DHAKA, June 30, 2025 (BSS) – The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has decided not to renew the leases of 16 commercial service entities operating at three international airports, including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, effective from midnight tonight.

The move aims to enhance passenger services, improve security, and strengthen transparency in airport operations, CAAB officials said.

The entities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport whose operations will cease include Aeros Trading, Messrs Sajal Enterprise, Mahbuba Traders, Nahar Construction, Aviation Transport Ltd, A Five Roadway Ltd, World Trust Tourist Car Services Company, Shirin Enterprise, Hawlader and Sons, Othoi Enterprise, Wolf Corporation, Arial Creative Space, Dhansiri Communication, and Department S Consulting.

In addition, Falcon Agency at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport and Falcon Airport Services Team at Syedpur Airport in Nilphamari are also on the list.

CAAB has instructed the firms to complete the closure of their operations immediately upon the expiry of their current leases, noting that no applications for renewal will be entertained.

On June 29, CAAB sent registered letters to the concerned entities, followed by a formal notice issued yesterday, instructing them to vacate their premises within the stipulated timeframe.

According to airport sources, many of these firms allegedly secured space at the airports by leveraging close connections with the previous ousted Awami League government and continued operations under the same leases for years despite complaints of irregularities and poor passenger service.

CAAB officials said the decision is part of a broader initiative to modernize airport management and establish stricter accountability in operations, with plans to introduce new policies for commercial activities in these sensitive zones.
Under a new framework, future operations at these facilities will be managed to ensure institutional discipline and enhanced passenger service standards, the officials added.
