Dhaka reiterates commitment on zero-tolerance policy against terrorism

DHAKA, July 1 2025 (BSS) – Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam today reiterated Bangladesh’s steadfast commitment to stand in solidarity with the international community in its collective resolve to defeat terrorism and violent extremism. 

He made the remark when today attended a solemn commemorative event to honour the memory of the victims of the tragic Holey Artisan Bakery attack in July 01, 2016. 

The Foreign Secretary laid a floral wreath in remembrance of the victims at the event organized by the Embassy of Italy in Dhaka, said a foreign ministry’s press release here.  

In his remarks, the Foreign Secretary also highlighted Bangladesh’s comprehensive counter-terrorism efforts and underscored the country’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. 

He expressed profound sorrow and solidarity with the families of the victims, many of whom were foreign nationals. 

Siam conveyed deep grief shared by the people and the Bangladesh government over the act that shook the nation.

 The ceremony, attended by families of the victims, diplomats, government officials and members of civil society, paid tribute to the innocent lives lost and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s unswerving commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms.

The event further underscored Bangladesh’s resilient social fabric and its unwavering dedication to promoting a culture of harmony, inclusion and diversity.
