DHAKA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder said that the elimination of discrimination in society is only possible through the establishment of true democracy.

He made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and prayer meeting held at the Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital today marking the anniversary of the historic July Uprising.

"The state does not divide its citizens or segregate their rights. In a modern, democratic nation, every citizen is equal. This is the very foundation of democracy," Dr. Bidhan said in his speech.

He urged the public to uphold the values for which the martyrs of the July Uprising gave their lives. "To honor their sacrifice, we must work toward building a non-discriminatory state," he added.

The program was presided over by Jayanta Kumar Deb, President of the Metropolitan Universal Puja Committee.

Basudeb Dhar of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Professor Chandranath Poddar from the Department of Mathematics at Dhaka University also spoke on the occasion.
