Mahfuj mourns death of Prof Mahmuda Begum

DHAKA, July 6, 2025 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Professor Mahmuda Begum, noted educationist and mother of Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman.

In a message of condolence, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Mahmuda Begum passed away in the early hours of today due to old-age complications.

She was 87.

A respected educationist, Mahmuda Begum taught Bengali at several reputed institutions, including Chattogram Government Commerce College, Cumilla Victoria College and Government Titumir College.

She also served as the vice-chairman of Amar Desh Publications.
