PABNA, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has taken full responsibility for two orphaned children, who were exposed to dire conditions by losing their parents within last five years.
Mariam, 7, and Ismail, 4, of Madarbariya village in Bhangura upazila of the district lost their father Wazed Ali five years ago while their mother Azima Khatun died recently leaving them completely orphaned.
On behalf of Tarique Rahman, a delegation from the "Amra BNP Paribar" visited the remote village around 4:30 pm today to meet the two children and inquire about their well-being.
During the visit, BNP nominated candidate for Pabna-3 constituency and President of Krishak Dal Agriculturist Hasan Jafir Tuhin handed over cash to the children.
On the occasion, BNP Chairperson's Special Assistant Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas expressed deep sympathy to the orphans and said, following the direction of Tarique Rahman, 'Amra BNP Paribar' has come forward to support these helpless children in a remote village.
"May Almighty Allah accept this noble humanitarian act of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman," he added.
'Amra BNP Paribar' Member Secretary Agriculturalist Moksedul Momin Mithun announced a monthly educational scholarship for Mariam and Ismail to support their schooling.
Member Secretary of Pabna District BNP Advocate Maksudur Rahman Masud Khondaker, General Secretary of Pabna Press Club Zahurul Islam, member of Dhaka South City BNP Arifa Sultana Ruma and member of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) Managing Committee Jahidul Islam Rony were present, among others, on the occasion.
Mariam and Ismail's father, Wazed Ali, died of a stroke five years ago. Their mother, Azima Khatun, later took over the responsibility of running the household. However, after her recent death, the two children were left completely orphaned, living in dire conditions in a dilapidated home.
Their heartbreaking story was reported on October 30 under the headline "Little Mariam now bears the burden of her family!" in Amar Desh online and widely circulated on social media.
The report drew the attention of Tarique Rahman, who then instructed 'Amra BNP Paribar' to extend financial and educational assistance to the children.
