RAJSHAHI, July 7, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has said that they did not make any statement regarding the timing of the national election.

"Justice and reformation before the national election is our sole demand," he said while talking to journalists at Parjatan Motel here today.

"We want the government to announce the July Charter. On the basis of it, a new election framework will be prepared. Otherwise, we will again take to the streets."

He also said that the NCP will announce its manifesto on August 3, which will include an outline for the formation of a new state.

Mentioning that the 15-year fascist regime has been ousted through united efforts, he said, "Now, our journey is to build the country. We will not compromise in this mission."

NCP has been observing the month-long nationwide 'July Walkathon to Build a Country' since July 1 to press home its demands for justice, reformation, and a new constitution.

Nahid also categorically said that toppling the fascist government is not enough - Bangladesh must be rebuilt through reformation, ensuring democracy, equality, and equity.

"Building a corruption-free and discrimination-free country was the main aspiration of the mass upsurge. But after August 5, we have largely deviated from that expectation," he opined.

"We have ousted the fascist regime with collective force, and we will also build the country collectively," he continued.

"We are going to all 64 districts with the July Declaration, the July Charter, and our vision for a discrimination-free Bangladesh - and our journey will not stop," he added.

"We took to the streets during the July mass upsurge with dreams and courage, and we want to send the same message: we are still on the streets," he added.

Meanwhile, NCP leaders held several street-corner meetings on the way to Sirajganj via Natore from Rajshahi today to press home their demands.
