Country’s GDP growth notches 4.86% during January-March of FY25

DHAKA, July 7, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh's economy grew by 4.86 percent during the January to March quarter of the last fiscal year (FY25), buoyed by a rebound in industry and services.

Industrial output rose by 6.91 percent during the three-month period of FY25, up from 4.55 percent during the same period of the previous year FY24, according to latest provisional data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The services sector, which makes up over half of the economy, grew by 5.88 percent in the 3rd quarter of FY25, compared with 4.31 percent in the same quarter of the previous year.

The agriculture sector, however, saw a slow growth as it stood at 2.42 percent during this January-March period of FY25, down from the previous year's figure for the same quarter.

According to provisional estimates, growth in the first and second quarters of the last fiscal year (FY25) was 1.96% and 4.48% respectively, while in the previous fiscal year (FY24) it was 5.87% and 4.47%.
