DHAKA, July 8, 2025 (BSS) - Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman today inaugurated the Bangladesh Army's Tree Plantation Campaign-2025.

Marking the occasion, the Army Chief formally launched a simultaneous tree plantation programme across all cantonments in the country, including Dhaka Cantonment, DOHS, and the Jalshiri Housing Projects, by planting a sapling at the Nirjhar residential area of Dhaka Cantonment, said an ISPR release.

The campaign, themed "Planned Afforestation, Build a Green Bangladesh," will continue until September 2025. It will feature the planting of fruit-bearing, forest, medicinal, and ornamental trees in all cantonments, training and firing ranges, as well as DOHS and Jalshiri housing areas.

The main objective of the campaign is to encourage individuals to plant trees on their own initiative to enhance the country's forest resources and maintain ecological balance.

Senior military officers from Army Headquarters and the Logistics Area, along with other army personnel, were present at the event, the release added.
