DHAKA, July 14, 2025 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) has removed from its cause list a writ petition that pleaded for forming of a judicial commission to investigate into killing of scrap metal trader Lal Chand Mohammad Sohag at city’s Mitford area on July 9.

“Deleted”, said the short order passed by the High Court division bench of Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque and Justice Aynun Nahar Siddiqua.

Supreme Court lawyer Dr Md Eunus Ali Akond filed the petition with the High Court on July 13.

The petitioner also pleaded for the court's direction to arrest the real culprits behind the brutal killing and provide compensation to the victim's family.

Lal Chand Mohammad Sohag, 39, was hacked, beaten and stoned to death on July 9 near Gate-3 of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital.
