Construction of 'July Smritystambha' begins in 64 districts: Cultural adviser

DHAKA, July 14, 2025 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki 
today said that the work for constructing "July Smritystambha" has started in 
all the 64 districts of the country to commemorate the memories of the 
martyrs of July uprising.

The Adviser informed this at a press conference organised on the "July Gano 
Obbhutthan Punorjagaran Onusthanmala" held at Ganobhaban in the capital.

"Initiative has been taken to construct such Smritystambha to project the 
sacrifices of the July martyrs before the new generation. The construction 
work of the Smritistambha has started from Narayanganj today while such works 
will be completed in all districts by August 4," he added.

Adviser to the Ministries of Social Welfare as well as on Women and Children 
Affairs Sharmeen S Murshid informed that the Ministries have taken 
initiatives to prepare a full-fledged list of the female warriors of the July 
uprising.
