Dhaka seeks deeper trade, energy, and tourism ties with Nepal

DHAKA, July 14, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh has sought to further deepen its cooperation with Nepal in trade, energy, agriculture, education, and tourism as part of Dhaka's commitment to advancing ties with the Himalayan nation.

This was highlighted when Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md Shafiqur Rahman called on Nepal's Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba at the Foreign Ministry in Kathmandu today, according to a message received here.

Welcoming the new envoy, Nepal's foreign minister expressed optimism that Bangladesh-Nepal relations would witness strengthened engagements in the coming days.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues of mutual interest, including boosting business and trade, cooperation in energy and power, and exploring new avenues in agriculture and food security. 

They also discussed enhancing collaboration in textiles, education, and research, while emphasising the need for greater people-to-people contact, tourism promotion, and deeper engagements between think tanks and academic institutions of the two countries.

Ambassador Rahman reiterated Bangladesh's commitment to work closely with Nepal to advance these areas of cooperation, seeking the Nepalese foreign minister's continued support in this regard.

In response, Minister Deuba assured the ambassador of her full support and wished him a successful tenure in Nepal.
