DHAKA, Aug 3, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Professor Dr. M Shamsher Ali.

In a condolence message, the vice-chancellor said that the late Professor Dr. M Shamsher Ali was a talented teacher and researcher of the university, a prominent Islamic thinker and an internationally renowned nuclear scientist.

His outstanding contribution to the country's education and research will be remembered forever, he said.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Retired Professor Dr. M Shamsher Ali of the Department of Physics, Dhaka University, passed away at 3:00 am today while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the city at the age of 87.
