BRUR VC calls for massive tree plantation to maintain ecological balance

RANGPUR, Aug 6, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, 
Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali called for massive tree plantation 
to maintain ecological balance and keep the planet habitable for humans.
 
"Large-scale tree plantations can increase forest cover and create an eco-
friendly green environment to combat the adverse effects of climate change 
and bring ecological balance and economic development," he said.
 
The VC expressed this opinion while inaugurating a tree plantation program 
marking the July Revival and Youth Festival by planting a sapling on the 
university campus as the chief guest today.
 
Forest and fruit tree saplings were planted on the campus on behalf of the 
Rangpur Zonal Office of Rupali Bank Limited (RBL). 
 
University Registrar Dr Md Harun-or Rashid, Rupali Bank Deputy General 
Manager Md Abdul Motaleb Hossain Pramanik, Assistant General Manager AKM 
Ferdous, Senior Principal Officer Md Mossarraf Hossain, among others, were 
present at the time.
