IICT of KUET plays a crucial role in expanding ICT-based knowledge

KHULNA, Aug, 8, 2025 (BSS) - The Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has been relentlessly working for the past one and a half decades to provide timely and career-oriented education and expand knowledge in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Currently, IICT offers ICT training to people of all ages including high-ranking government officials.

The institute regularly offers 6-month and 3-month training programs for the common people, and 2-week specialized training programs for employees and officials from various institutions. 

According to IICT sources, the institute offers training in 26 contemporary programs. Of them, 8 are under the 6-month professional diploma course, and 18 are short-term training programs. 

Training is delivered by a team of qualified and experienced instructors in the classromms equipped with modern laboratories, internet, and Wi-Fi. Upon successful completion, trainees receive a certificate from IICT at KUET.

Professor Dr. Ashraful Gani Bhuiyan, Director of IICT, said,the core objective of this training is to provide timely and employment-oriented education while expanding ICT knowledge.

“IICT plays a pioneering role in bringing the benefits of information technology to the grassroots level,” he said.

He added, “With that goal in mind, we are continuously introducing new training programs, developing new labs, and planning to expand facilities further. 

He said under the government's EDGE project from the ICT Division, more than 115 high-ranking government officials from Khulna and nearby districts received ICT training in the institute.

Regarding future developments, he said, KUET syndicate has decided to hand over the ICT Ministry’s Incubation Center located on campus to be operated by IICT. 

Once the handover process is complete, the institute’s scope and efficiency will greatly expand, he said.
