Bring police personnel back to work was great success past year: IGP

DHAKA, Aug 10, 2025 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has described bringing the demoralized police personnel back to their works was the great success in the last one year following the dislodge of the Awami League (AL) government on August 5 last.
 
"To bring police personnel back to their works is the great success of Bangladesh Police in the past one year," he told BSS over phone on August 4 while replying to a question about the success of the police force in the last one year.
 
The police chief said think about the situation of police personnel on August 6 and the position of police today.
 
"They back to their stations and start working and it's a huge success," he said.
 
Asked for comment about satisfaction regarding the overall law and order situation across the country, Alam said he is not completely satisfied.
 
"I am not cent percent satisfied. There are still scopes for improvement in the law and order situation," he said.
 
The IGP said they are now taking preparations to help hold the upcoming national election in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
 
"Our main target is the next election. We're preparing for that," he said.  
 
The Police headquarters sources said they have played a significant role in bringing back normalcy in public life from the adverse situation created immediately after the Awami League government was ousted in face of the Mass Uprising.
 
To uphold the law and order and recover the looted firearms of the law enforcers, the police have initiated nationwide special operations against the criminals soon after the August 5 last and it is now continuing.
    
The police have vowed to continue the nationwide operation until the next election to ensure public safety.
