‘University students should be active in academic, extracurricular activities’

RANGPUR, Aug 10, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali has said the university students should be active in extracurricular activities along with academic studies.
 
“The new students should develop the habit of studying and attending classes on time and practice punctuality to benefit them in professional and personal lives," he said while visiting orientation classes of freshers’ in different departments today.
 
Welcoming the new students to the campus, the Vice-chancellor asked them to inform the university administration immediately if they are victims of any kind of discrimination or ragging.
   
He sought divine blessings and forgiveness for the souls of the martyrs who died in the July Uprising across the country. 
 
Remembering martyr Abu Sayeed, the Vice-Chancellor said that if students succeed through education, then martyr Abu Sayeed's sacrifice will be useful. 
 
The Vice-chancellor presented various gifts, including flowers, to the new students. 
 
Deans of various faculties of the university and heads of various departments, teachers and new students admitted in the first year graduation (honours) class of all 22 departments in the academic year 2024-2025 were present.
