Four day workshop on bio-pesticides begins in BAU

MYMENSINGH, July 11 Aug, 2025 (BSS) -  A four day workshop on “Bio-pesticides” today began at Bangladesh Agricultural university (BAU) aiming to producing safe crops  alongside maintaining ecological balance  The Department of Entomology of BAU is organizing the workshop.

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Professor Dr.G.M Mujibur Rahman of the university inaugurated the training programme, a BAU press release said. 

Professor of the Department of Entomology, Dr. Masum Ahmed, Professor of the Department of Plant and Pathology Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali Hossain and the chief of the project of the Department of Entomology Professor Dr. Mohammad Saifullah were present at the inaugural function, among others.

Dr. Mujibur Rahman said, “The use of bio-pesticide is very important for ensuring safe and sustainable agricultural production”.

He also said excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides are posing a threat to the environment, human health and biodiversity in the country. 

  Highlighting different harmful effects of rampant use of chemical fertilizer and other agri-inputs, Dr. Mujibur Rahman laid emphasis on nature based education to deal with adverse impacts caused by the global climate change.

A total of 20 dealers, deputy assistant agriculture officials and students are participating in the training programme.
