CABI team meets BAU Journalists’ Association

MYMENSINGH, August 12, 2025 (BSS) - A delegation of the Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI) met with members of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Journalists’ Association (BAUJA) to discuss the current state and future prospects of agricultural journalism in Bangladesh.

On Tuesday (August 12) at 2:30 pm, the meeting was held at the office of the Associate Student Adviser of the university.

The delegation comprised of Azmat Abbas, a Pakistani journalist and DevCom Manager (Asia) at CABI; Dr. Md. Saleh Ahmed, CABI Country Representative; and Dr. Dilruba Sharmin, Project Coordinator ; Professor of Entomology and  Associate Student Adviser Dr. Mohammad Shaef Ullah,  Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), were also present at the meeting.

From BAUJA, President Habibur Rahman Roni (Daily Ajker Potrika), Senior member Md. Taniul Karim Zim (BSS) and Secretary Md. Aman Ullah (Daily Amar Desh) attended the discussion.

The meeting focused on the current challenges in agricultural journalism in Bangladesh, ways to improve the sector, and comparative agricultural conditions in Bangladesh and Pakistan. Both sides expressed interest in forming a joint journalism forum between the two countries to share knowledge, exchange information, and highlight the importance of media professionals in agricultural development.
