Women's participation crucial for country's development: KU VC

KHULNA, Aug 13, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University (KU) Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim said women's participation is essential for the country's overall development.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a seminar on "Gender Equality and Fairness in the Media" held Wednesday at the URP Lecture Theatre of KU.

Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim stressed the need to increase women's presence in the media and ensure proper representation of women. He said, "Since the media reflects society, promoting gender equality and fairness can bring positive social change."

The Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Discipline of Khulna University organized the seminar, chaired by Discipline Head Sara Monami Hossain.

Prof Sheikh Sharafat Hossain, Acting Dean of the School of Social Sciences, addressed the event as special guest. Dhaka University Mass Communication and Journalism Professor Dr Giti Ara Nasreen, equality and human rights activist Shipa Hafiza, and MRDI Executive Director Hasibur Rahman addressed the event as panel discussants. 

Faculty members and students of the MCJ Discipline attended the seminar.
