RAJSHAHI, Aug 15, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi University (RU) has launched a targeted initiative to improve the quality of academic publications and reduce plagiarism by enhancing the writing competence of its teachers and researchers.

The initiative was highlighted at the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop titled "Keyword Sequence Importance (KSI): A Novel Writing Module for Quality Publication and Plagiarism Reduction", held on the RU campus Thursday afternoon.

Developed to support both novice and experienced academics, the KSI model is a structured writing technique that guides researchers and thesis writers in producing higher-quality and original academic work.

The method is designed to streamline the research writing process while reducing instances of plagiarism by emphasizing clarity, keyword optimization and logical sequencing.

Organized by the university's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the workshop drew participation from around 150 faculty members and researchers representing multiple institutions, including Rajshahi University of Science and Technology, Varendra University, Rajshahi Medical University,

Ahsania Mission Science and Technology University, North Bengal International University, Jessore Science and Technology University, Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology, and Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University.

RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib attended the event as chief guest. At the closing session, he praised the KSI model as an innovative step toward academic excellence.

"Research methodologies are evolving continuously and the KSI module opens new avenues in academic writing," he said, adding, "We aim to advance our research culture by adopting globally accepted qualitative methods. This module is a significant milestone in that journey."

Pro-Vice Chancellors Prof Mayeen Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan also spoke as special guests with IQAC Director Prof Abu Reza in the chair.

Prof Kamal Uddin from Malaysia's Putra University served as the resource person and conducted the training sessions and shared best practices in academic writing.

Participants expressed optimism that the new module would not only foster a culture of originality but also improve the visibility and credibility of research emerging from Bangladeshi institutions.

The RU administration affirmed its commitment to integrating the KSI module into its broader academic development programs in the next semesters.
