RAJSHAHI, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has promoted a method to improve the quality of academic publications and reduce plagiarism by enhancing the writing capabilities of its teachers and researchers.

The initiative was highlighted at the closing ceremony of a daylong workshop titled "Keyword Sequence Importance (KSI): A Novel Writing Module for Quality Publication and Plagiarism Reduction", held on the RUET campus today.

Developed to support both novice and experienced academics, the KSI model is a structured writing technique that guides researchers and thesis writers in producing higher-quality and original academic work.

The method is designed to streamline the research writing process while reducing instances of plagiarism by emphasizing clarity, keyword optimization and logical sequencing.

Organized by the university's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the workshop drew participation from faculty members and researchers.

RUET Vice-Chancellor Prof SM Abdur Razzaque attended the event as the chief guest with IQAC Director Prof Imdadul Haque in the chair. At the opening session, he praised the KSI model as an innovative step toward academic excellence.

"Research methodologies are evolving continuously and the KSI module opens new avenues in academic writing," he said, adding, "We aim to advance our research culture by adopting globally accepted qualitative methods. This module is a significant milestone in that journey."

Prof Kamal Uddin from Malaysia's Putra University served as the resource person and conducted the training sessions and shared best practices in academic writing.

Participants expressed optimism that the new module would not only foster a culture of originality but also improve the visibility and credibility of research emerging from Bangladeshi institutions.

The RUET administration affirmed its commitment to integrating the KSI module into its broader academic development programs in the next semesters.
