DU, TIKA sign MoU to improve health care facilities

DHAKA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) was signed today at the VC's meeting room to improve health care facilities at the university.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan was present on the occasion as the chief guest, said a press release.

Treasurer of DU Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Coordinator of TIKA Muhammed Ali Armagan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of DU Professor Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr Abdus Salam, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Professor Dr Md Selim Reza, and heads of different offices were present at the event.

According to the MoU, TIKA will provide technical and financial support to DU for the renovation of the Shahid Buddhijibi Dr Muhammad Mortaza Medical Centre, installation of an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) to enhance advanced research capabilities, and installation of modern medical equipment to improve diagnostic and therapeutic services.

Besides, TIKA will provide a modern, fully equipped ambulance to improve emergency medical response and patient transport.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Niaz thanked the TIKA authorities for providing financial and technical support to improve health care facilities at Dhaka University.

Students, teachers, officers and employees will be highly benefited by these initiatives, he hoped.
